Quality Time

November 29, 2020 Preacher: Josh King Series: God So Loved

Topic: Video Sermon, Sunday Sermon, Jesus, Gospels, Advent Passage: Luke 1:39–56

Background – Gary Chapman wrote a book called The Five Love Languages. This book was written to help couples strengthen their marriage. For this Advent season, we are taking a new spin on this concept and applying it to Christmas. As a church, we will be looking at each Love Language and asking ourselves, “How can we experience the love of God this advent season?”

Key Verse - Luke 1:39-56

Take Away - As a church, we need to spend quality time together by experiencing shared rest.

Sermon Summary - For this week, we will be exploring the first love language: Quality Time. What does it look like for a church to spend quality time together? As a church, we need to spend quality time together by experiencing shared rest. This idea of rest is not just relaxing, but rejoicing. It means having a deep sense of security that God is in control. In Luke 1:39-56 we see Mary and Elizabeth sharing a season of rejoicing, focus, and trust in God while they were still carrying Jesus and John.

This Christmas is going to be a very unusual one. However, as a church, we can help each other focus on God this season, instead of our circumstances.
